How to Care for Felted Wool Products
BureBure products are handmade from natural felted wool. Felt is strong, warm and long-lasting, but it is happiest with gentle care.
Wool naturally resists dirt and odours, so most BureBure products do not need frequent washing. In many cases, it is enough to air them, shake them out or gently vacuum the surface.
Felted wool slippers and footwear
Before you start wearing felted wool footwear, you may protect the surface with a textile protection spray suitable for wool, such as a nano surface protector for wool or textiles.
If there is dry dirt, dust or small particles on your slippers or shoes, let them dry completely first. Then simply shake them out, brush off the dirt gently or vacuum the surface.
If the stain or dirt is the kind that may soak deeply into the wool and change the colour over time, wash that area with warm water and a wool-safe detergent as soon as possible.
If washing is needed, wash by hand in warm water using a wool-safe detergent. Wash gently and do not rub strongly, because strong rubbing can make wool shrink further.
After washing, you may use a short spin cycle in the washing machine, or press out excess water with a towel. Do not twist or wring strongly by hand.
After removing excess water, you can briefly put the slippers on your feet, shape them gently with your hands, sit with them for 2–3 minutes, then take them off and leave them to dry. This helps the felted footwear return to the shape of your foot.
Dry in a warm, dry and well-ventilated place. Avoid direct sunlight and very hot surfaces. Drying on a radiator is possible only if it is not too hot. Too much heat can change the shape of felted wool or cause extra shrinkage.
If your slippers have latex-coated soles, do not leave them in strong direct sunlight.
If small wool pills appear on the surface after wear, you can gently remove them by hand or carefully trim them with small scissors. This is natural for felted wool and does not mean the product is defective.
Sauna hats
Felted sauna hats do not need to be washed after every use. Usually, it is enough to dry them completely after the sauna.
After use, shake the hat out and leave it to dry in a dry, well-ventilated place. If dust or small particles appear on the surface, you may gently vacuum it.
If the stain or dirt may soak deeply into the wool and change the colour over time, wash that area with warm water and a wool-safe detergent as soon as possible.
If washing is needed, wash by hand in warm water with a wool-safe detergent. Do not rub strongly. BureBure sauna hats are felted very firmly and usually shrink less than many other felted hats, but they may still shrink slightly if washed too roughly.
After washing, gently remove excess water, stretch the hat lightly, shape it by hand and leave it to dry naturally.
Do not tumble dry sauna hats and do not place them on very hot surfaces.
Felted pot holders, coasters and accessories
Felted pot holders, coasters and small accessories usually only need to be shaken out, aired or gently vacuumed.
If there are crumbs, dust or dried dirt on the surface, shake them out, brush them off gently or vacuum the product.
If the stain or dirt may soak deeply into the wool and change the colour over time, wash that area with warm water and a wool-safe detergent as soon as possible.
If washing is needed, wash by hand in warm water with a mild wool-safe detergent. After washing, shape the item by hand and dry it flat in a dry, well-ventilated place.

The natural life of felted wool
Felted wool is a living natural material. With use, the surface may change slightly: small wool pills may appear, the surface may become smoother, and footwear may adjust to the shape of your feet.
This is a natural quality of handmade felted wool.
With proper care, BureBure felted wool products can last a long time and age beautifully with use.
