Who We Are
BureBure is a small, family-run business specializing in handcrafted wool footwear, made to order from natural wool and tailored to fit your feet. Our focus is on creating durable and ethically crafted products while staying true to our roots and values.
The story of BureBure began In 2006, a young couple, Inga and Kęstas, discovered the art of felting and began experimenting with wool footwear. Inga comes from a family with three generations of shoemakers, while Kęstas took on the technical side of the business. The name "BureBure," meaning “sheep” in Lithuanian, was his idea, symbolizing our commitment to raising rare and endangered sheep breeds on our farm. Inga and Kęstas also developed the techniques we use and designed most of our collections. Even our children get involved, from felting and packing to designing, like our daughter Vasarė who came up with the idea for our animal face slippers when she was just nine.
Our family lives on a farm in the beautiful and lake-rich Molėtai region of Lithuania. Surrounded by vast natural forests, clean lakes, and unique bogs filled with berries and mushrooms, we raise local heritage breeds of sheep, goats, and Highland cattle in a way that respects their natural environment. We also grow shiitake mushrooms outdoors in the forest.
We are passionate about sharing our craft. We organize felting workshops both at our farm and in various countries. Having refined our techniques, we’ve made felting fun and accessible, showing how easy it can be with the right materials and methods. We've held workshops around the world, working with small groups, hobbyists, and communities. If your community is interested in learning to felt, we’re the best teachers to guide you!
